Local Mum plans Celebrity Highlands walk to raise money for breast cancer charity Copafeel

Local mum of two Catherine Mearns, is taking on a once in a lifetime challenge to raise money for the breast cancer awareness charity, Coppafeel. She will be teaming up with Queen of the Castle, Giovanna Fletcher, TV Presenter Emma Willis, actress and model Gemma Atkinson and GBBO star Selasi Gbormittah, along with 100 other fantastic and inspiring women to trek 100km over 5 days in the Scottish Highlands in September. #TeamBoobs will be tackling some of the most challenging sections of the Rob Roy Way and climbing to the summit of one of Scotland’s highest mountains, Ben Lawers (1,214m).

“Walking in the hills with my family is something I have always loved to do but this is a completely different challenge. Trying to fit in training, working and running around after two young children (not to mention an imminent house move) is all a bit overwhelming but I am so excited to be part of this trek. Giovanna is an ambassador for Coppafeel and leads these treks every year, demand to join her is huge and I feel so lucky to have been chosen. After losing my mum to breast cancer when she was only 49 and my cousin who sadly lost her battle in her 30s, I know how important Coppafeel’s work is, and I am going to be walking every step of this journey knowing I am helping Coppafeel reach more people to understand the importance of checking their boobs and pecs correctly and to seek support when something isn’t normal for them. They do life saving work educating and empowering people to know the signs/symptoms of breast cancer and what to do if you find anything unusual. Early diagnosis really can save your life.”
