Mendip Performing Arts Academy

Evercreech

Groups & Classes

The Mendip Performing Arts Academy is a children's theatre school based in Evercreech, Somerset.

The sessions are determined by age group, with the content and structure set specifically to engage with learners at that stage in their performing journey.  This ensures your child gets the most out of their time at the academy and has the opportunity to flourish.

We have a strong focus on collaboration and team-work, helping our students to build their confidence, make new friends and have fun during the sessions.

As well as the regular classes we also hold masterclasses on topics such as audition preparation and microphone technique to give your child the opportunity to hone their craft.

During the holidays there will be the opportunity to participate in extra classes and workshops.  Details for these are released each term.

Currently, due to COVID-19 our class sizes are capped at 12 to allow for social distancing.

The classes run during term time for a period of 12 weeks.

We offer a £5 trial session for prospective students, which can be booked (dependent on class space) by messaging us via the 'contact us' page HERE

Classes available:

Mendip Minis (aged 5 to 7)
Saturday 9.15am to 10.15 am

We keep our Mini's engaged with an hour of singing, dancing and acting fun, split into equal twenty minute blocks, to keep things fresh.

Each term the Mini's will work on building their skills and confidence, gradually building towards our annual showcase where the academy comes together to display the hard work we've been doing all year.

In singing, they'll learn new songs and find out about rhythm, timing and how sounds are made.  In our dance classes they'll begin to learn basic movement and try out new dance moves, and in acting they'll be encouraged to take part in improvisation and be introduced to role play.

Mendip Midis (aged 9 to 15)
Saturday 10.30am to 12pm

Our Midi's have a 90 minute session, split equally between singing, dancing and acting to give us the time to hone their craft.

In singing, the Midi's will begin to learn basic vocal techniques, build on their understanding of rhythm and sound and learn a mix of pop songs and musical theatre numbers to provide the variety needed to become a triple threat performer.

In dance, the Midi's will learn techniques from a combination of jazz, modern, basic ballet, pop and street variations.  This will be taught over a combination of technique classes and fun dance routines.

In acting the Midi's will begin to explore improvisation, team and partner exercises and how to work with a basic script.

All of this work will culminate in our annual showcase where the academy comes together to display the hard work we've been doing all year.
