Ebbor Gorge – labelled as ‘mini Cheddar’ by the National Trust!

Ebbor Gorge is our absolute favourite for a family walk – with a beautiful limestone gorge you can clamber up, woodland, rocks, caves and grassland it is the perfect outdoor playground for your family. The pictures show my 3 year old climbing straight up the centre of the Gorge! It was challenging for little legs (including mine) but very rewarding.

There are 3 trails to choose from, one trail suitable for buggies and pushchairs. The information board at the (free) car park will show you which trail to follow.

It can get muddy so we would recommend wellies or other suitable footwear if we have experienced rain.

The pictures show a visit January, so it was cold and muddy but such a great time to get out and explore the countryside, splash in the streams and clamber over the rocks.

The car park is free but locked at dusk. There are no other facilities there, but it is a short drive into Wells.

There is a 4 mile circular walk from Wookey Hole village through Ebbor Gorge and back, details of this walk can be found HERE.
