A very special hill in East Mendip where the volcanic rocks can be found.

A walk covering three geological periods (Silurian-oldest in Somerset, Devonian and Jurassic) to enjoy the scenery, geomorphology and archaelogical features including burial mounds, central earth bank with standing stone, pre-historic quarry pits and Roman roads

Led by Doug Robinson, local geologist and retired lecturer from Bristol University.

Meet at Somerset Earth Science Centre to car share 9.45am, or parking in gateway of Beacon Hill Woods.

Distance: 2km

Suitable for adults (amateur geologists and those with an interest in geology)

Booking is essential, this is a free event but a suggested donation to Mendip Rocks! of £3pp would be appreciated.
